North Carolina boasts four of the top 10 cities to drive in with Raleigh ranked number one, according to the personal finance website WalletHub. The top 10 cities, ranked from best to worst, are: Raleigh, NC (1); Corpus Christi, TX (2); Orlando, FL (3); Greensboro, NC (4); Plano, TX (5); Winston-Salem, NC (6); Durham, NC (7); El Paso, TX (8); Jacksonville, FL (9); and Tampa, FL (10.). Detroit, MI ranked last of all the cities surveyed.
WalletHub compared the 100 most populated cities across 29 key indicators of driver-friendliness. The key indicators include punitiveness of high-risk driver’s insurance, average gas prices, annual hours in traffic congestion per auto commuter, quality of roads, accident likelihood and auto-repair shops per capita.
